cultures and values
Our name — ODUN — comes from the culture of the Sakha people (Yakutia, North-Eastern Siberia, Russia). The Sakha are an Indigenous people whose traditions are deeply connected to nature, its cycles, and spiritual heritage. In their language, Odun means life and vital force — a symbol of our roots, respect for the land, and the energy to move forward.
After moving to New Zealand, we found inspiration in the koru, the Māori spiral of the unfolding fern frond, which represents growth, renewal, and harmony. By bringing together two worlds — Sakha and Aotearoa — we created a brand that reflects the path of cultural connection.
ODUN GROUP is a story about preserving one’s roots while growing on new land. Our logo unites the strength of Sakha traditions with the spirit of renewal embodied in the koru, inspiring us in both work and life.
